Sun, Sea, Sand & Football: Algarve Challenge Cup! 22nd & 24th July 2008

The Algarve Challenge Cup is the first tournament of it’s kind in the Algarve and will take place at the Estádio do Algarve (near Faro)

The competition involves FA Cup finalists Cardiff City, Scottish Premier League champions-elect Celtic Glasgow, Premier League Middlesborough and Portuguese Champions League surprise qualifiers Vitória de Guimarães.

Tuesday 22nd July
Vitória de Guimarães 1 - 2 Cardiff City (19:15PM)

Celtic 1 - 1 Middlesbrough (21:30PM)

Thursday 24th July
Vitória de Guimarães 1 - 0 Middlesbrough (19:15PM)

Cardiff City 1 - 0 Celtic (21:30PM)

Tickets can be obtained at the ticket offices of the respective clubs or from: http://www.findutickets.com/algarve_challenge_cup/

Tickets are available as one day passes (€38.50 for both matches);
as a tournament pass (€70 for both days; 4 matches) or;
as a tournament family ticket (€250 for both days; 4 matches; 2 adults and 2 children).

Note: The tournament will be a modified league system where teams will get 3 points for a win and 1 for a draw. In addition to this a point will be awarded for every goal scored which will promote attractive attacking football. So a 3-3 draw would get a team the same number of points as a 1-0 victory.

Venue: Algarve Stadium has capacity for over 30,000 spectators; it’s the home grounds for Farense SC & Louletano DC. The stadium was built for the 2004 European Football Championship.
The stadium is about 5 miles from Faro airport and is served by train (Parque das Cidades Station; 8mins from Faro Station)
